Craftsmanship Stories

Documentary photography of artisans & traditional crafts

Craftsmanship Stories is my documentary photography series that captures artisans and their mastery. Through intimate visual storytelling, I document the hands, tools, processes, and passion behind traditional craft professions across Belgium and Europe.

Why document craftsmanship?

Through my work, I aim to promote the expertise, discipline, beauty, and authenticity of craft professions and share the unique spirit of craftsmanship that defines these dedicated makers.

I strongly believe that the work and products of craftspeople make an important contribution to the world we want to live in. Real craftsmanship is all about quality, sustainability, dedication, deep respect for natural materials, and slowing down – crucial elements of a world worth living in.

My approach to craft photography

Documentary photography of artisans requires patience and trust. I spend time in workshops and studios, observing the rhythms of work, waiting for authentic moments that reveal the essence of each craft. The result is visual stories that honor both the maker and their mastery.

Who I work with

I collaborate with:

  • Traditional craftspeople and artisans (leatherworkers, woodworkers, blacksmiths, weavers, ceramicists, instrument makers)

  • Heritage organizations and craft guilds

  • Museums documenting traditional skills

  • Businesses showcasing authentic craftsmanship

  • Cultural publications and magazines

Working area

Based in Antwerp and a little village in Northern Tuscany, I work throughout Belgium and Italy and am available for craft documentation assignments across Europe.
